On July 5, 2018, Officer Ryan Frank was working patrol with his K-9 partner, Booker, along with his wife, Hayley, who was with him on a ride along. Officer Frank made contact with a suspicious vehicle. During contact the subject attempted to flee and then opened fire with Officer Frank's wife and K9 inside the vehicle. The suspect shot 71 rounds from an AK-47 at the squad car. Officer Frank was shot four times including once in the head. His wife was also grazed by two bullets. Officer Frank was able to return fire with his handgun and shot the suspect five times. The suspect succumbed to his injuries.
Officer Frank was able to make a full rehabilitation from his injuries and is still an officer today. Thank you for your service to the community, Officer Frank. We are very thankful you and your wife made full recoveries.
