A standoff in Yardley, Pennsylvania, resulted in the borough's police chief being shot multiple times. Police say Chief Joe Kelly responded to a call and the suspect opened fire on Kelly with a shotgun after he entered the apartment. Kelly was struck in his hand and part of his ear. The incident began at approximately 11 a.m. on Aug. 18, 2021 when a Bucks County probation officer was tasked with supervising 24-year-old Colin Petroziello. The officer went to the probationer’s Yardley Commons condominium for a routine probation check. Then turned into a domestic situation. The probation officer called for assistance, the chief was nearby and he rolled in to assist, it turned into a heated, verbal, scuffle, and it looked like it was going violent so she called for backup.
Chief Joe Kelly has since made a full recovery. Thank you for your service to the community, Joe.
